How-To: Tightline

Here's a post-Canadian-Thanksgiving treat to get you out of your Tuesdays slumps!  One of my favourite techniques, as requested by a good friend of mine who is new to the world of make up (specifically, eyeliner).

Pardon the lack of sleep


Tightlining!  Qu'est-ce que c'est you say?  It's one of those no-makeup-makeup tricks that makes your lashes look over 9000% fuller!  I didn't mean for that to sound like a mascara tagline.

Here's the thing: most people line on top of their lashline so when you look down, you can see where they've applied the kohl.  It's not an awful thing, this is just a subtler option.


Step 1:  Pull up your eyelid to expose the waterline

Step 2: Apply the eyeliner along the marked green line.  It doesn't have to be a perfect line; in fact, a series of dashes along the base of the lash will look more or less the same - part of the beauty of this trick, there's no need to be neat!

Step 3: If you've done it right, it should look like you have little to no eyeliner on when you close your eyes.  Any smudges on the lid you can just clean up with a Q-Tip.  Don't wipe them away with your fingers like I'm occasionally guilty of doing - the skin around your eyes is far too delicate!

Any eyeliner will do - I used L'Oreal's Infallible Never Fail Eyeliner in Carbon Black.
