The Boot Round Up

- L - R -
Rag & Bone Newbury
Brooks Brothers Calfskin Vintage Style
Steve Madden (not sure of the model)

The other day I said something crazy.

"I think I have all the fall/winter shoes I want!"

And then I did a roundup of all my shoes, and I do believe that I've created the ultimate everyday boot wardrobe for fall.  Bootdrobe?

I live in the slushy winterland of Toronto, which means my shoes have to brave occasional ankle-deep questionable wet, gray matter that calls itself snow, escape the literal throes of black ice, and stand up to the ubiquitous sand and salt that exists everywhere to fight the aforemention ice and snow.

While most people opt for a commuter shoe (you know, comfortable, practical, treaded footwear designed to manage the winter elements), I know I'll forget to switch them out and be caught wearing quilted, lace-up Sorels to a client meeting.  Oops.

That said, I've rounded up a few shoes that should see me through this hopefully polar vortex-free winter.

One rule: No suede.  No imitation suede.  No soft fabrics in general.  You'll thank me later.

  1. Oh we can be boot friends! I'd so wear these, too!

I'm with you on the NO SUEDE rule. You can't clean the damn thing, and it's just not very practical for wet and cold winters.

  2. Love all three boots. I'm with you with you on the no suede rule - they're just not practical for Toronto winters!

Also, I'm so glad you don't have UGGs here. It drives me crazy when I see girls (and guys) wearing them in the dead of winter here!

  3. Love the boots you have here! It's so sad I live in a tropical country because that means I can't wear boots. *FML*

    1. I haven't been able to find a pair I like! I find they make my thighs look really short

  5. Love your boots!! I'm just missing a pair of just-over-the-ankle boots (like your Rag and Bone ones) before I close up the deal on winter shoes. Btw, how do you keep them clean? I'm paranoid about salt stains becoming permanent on my boots from Roots :S

    1. Honestly, I have another pair of boots exactly like the middle pair, and I just let them be covered in salt until I backed them up. I've heard there are wipes you can buy though!

  6. WHY IS SUEDE EVEN A FABRIC FOR WINTER BOOTS????? WHO'S 'BRILLIANT' IDEA WAS THAT?? My bootrobe is seriously lacking, but my Docs are all I need...for now. Waterproof, slushproof, looks badass, etc.

  8. I need new boots! I would wear my uggs all last year because I just wanted to be warm and didn't care... and it was college. Now in uni I feel so pressured to dress nicely or at least decently.. everyone downtown is so fashionable!

  10. Love your boots! Glad you posted more views on them, cause I was super curious after seeing your instagram pic.

I do like my suedes, even though we shouldn't in toronto. I wear them when it isn't as slushy though, otherwise the seepage is a PITA. Salt stains I banish with a vinegar mix...but still. I have been trying to stay with good leathers that can keep crap out.

Btw I didn't know brooks brothers had boots for women...must check this out cause I love the style you posted
